Now you’ve learnt the skills you need for your ideal job, next up, you need to create something that showcases this skill
Task: Use your learned skills to create a useful project or deliverable expected of someone with your ideal job role
If you’re a product designer, redesign an app that is needed or useful either by a possible future employer or a large group of people that need the redesign so badly that when they get it they’ll shout and sing about it.
Them shouting and singing gives you viral marketing of your skills.
If you’re a data analyst or engineer, gather key/useful data of a possible future employer or a large group of people that need help and analyse or engineer the data.
Same goes for any skill or role, use your skill to create a solution for either a possible employer for free or a large needy group. Doing this give you free publicity to the employer’s network or the large group’s network.
Tip: When you create the solution, package and present it so well that it looks very professional. This will also help with the selling of your skill to those watching.
You can find examples of expected deliverables or projects or tasks to be done by someone in your ideal job role by researching through LinkedIn profiles of other individuals doing a similar job.
What tasks do they list on their profiles?
Also ask Google what tasks would a [insert job role here] do
, so it can become “what tasks would a community manager
or a product designer
or a data analyst
do?”
Basically, the goal here is to create something useful with your skill and package it well so it sells you even without work experience.
Feel free to reply this post asking questions if you are unsure.
To complete this, quote the Task
test and post your deliverable.
With this completed, next, you start applying for jobs.
